Does Fabrikatör forecast raw materials?
Fabrikatör forecasts demand for finished goods — the products you sell on Shopify. It does not forecast raw materials or manage bills of materials (BOMs) directly.
However, once you have your finished goods forecast and purchase orders from Fabrikatör, you can use our free Raw Material Calculator to convert those quantities into a detailed raw material requirements plan.
Can I add raw materials to Fabrikatör?
Fabrikatör syncs products from your Shopify store, which means it works with the finished goods and variants you sell. Raw materials that aren't listed as Shopify products cannot be added to Fabrikatör directly.
If your production workflow requires tracking raw material quantities, the Raw Material Calculator bridges that gap — take your finished goods purchase orders from Fabrikatör, feed them into the calculator with your recipes, and get the raw material breakdown you need.
Raw Material Calculator — Free Online Tool
The Raw Material Calculator is a free tool built by Fabrikatör that calculates the total raw material quantities needed for production based on your finished goods plan and recipes (BOMs).
How does it work?
Enter your production plan — Upload a CSV or Excel file, or manually enter the finished products and quantities you plan to produce.
Define your recipes / BOMs — Import or create recipes that define which raw materials each product requires and in what quantity per unit. Products without recipes can be marked as "Direct Materials" (treated as raw requirements 1:1).
Review your results — The tool aggregates all requirements into a table showing Material, Required, On Hand, Need to Order, and Unit. You can enter your current inventory levels to see the net quantity needed.
Export — Download your material plan as a PDF summary or CSV file. You can also export recipe definitions as CSV to reuse them next time.
What file formats are supported?
The calculator supports CSV and Excel (.xlsx) imports for both production plans and recipes. It includes smart column mapping that auto-detects your data and lets you remap if needed.
Does it require a Fabrikatör account?
No. The tool is completely free and requires no signup or login. All processing happens locally in your browser — your data is never sent to any server.
Compatibility
The Raw Material Calculator works in any modern web browser and is not limited to Shopify merchants. Anyone who needs to calculate raw material requirements from a production plan can use it.
