Your suppliers have a huge impact on the success of your store. In order to create purchase orders and forecast out-of-stocks, it is important to match your products with suppliers.
How Fabrikatör handles suppliers initially
When you first set up Fabrikatör:
We automatically import your Shopify Vendors as suppliers based on your decision on Get Started Page
Each product is initially assigned to its corresponding Vendor
You can modify these assignments at any time
If you chose to copy your vendors as suppliers on Get Started Page, Fabrikatör will also keep them in sync going forward — every new product synced from Shopify is automatically assigned to its matching supplier. You can turn this on or off at any time (see *Keep suppliers in sync automatically* below).
How to automatically match suppliers to products
If you regularly add new products to your Shopify catalog, you can let Fabrikatör match them to suppliers for you instead of doing it manually each time.
How to enable it
1. Go to Settings → Inventory Planning Settings
2. Toggle Auto-sync vendors from Shopify to ON
3. Click Update
What happens when it's ON
- Every new product synced from Shopify is checked against your existing suppliers
- If the product's Shopify vendor matches an existing supplier (case-insensitive) → the product is assigned to that supplier
- If no matching supplier exists → a new supplier is created from the Shopify vendor name and the product is assigned to it
- If the product has no vendor in Shopify → it is skipped (you can assign a supplier manually)
- If the product already has a supplier in Fabrikatör → we never overwrite your assignment
One-time catch-up when you turn it ON
When you switch the toggle from OFF to ON, Fabrikatör runs a one-time catch-up on your existing catalog: any product without a supplier is matched using the same rules above. Products that already have a supplier — and products with no Shopify vendor — are left untouched. This runs in the background; no action needed from you.
What happens when it's OFF
Future products synced from Shopify will not be auto-matched. Suppliers that were already assigned (manually or automatically) stay exactly as they are.
Defaults
- New accounts: Matches your onboarding choice — ON if you chose "copy vendors", OFF if you chose "skip"
- Existing accounts: OFF — turn it on from Settings whenever you're ready
